EQ Xmas 2013

It never stops snowing fabric in a quilter's house!

Thank you to the hard work of Laurie Latta, Nancy Givens and Colleen Thomas for our delicious luncheon!

Show & Tell - a favorite part of each meeting!

Karen Alexander shows her daughter Lori's  completed wedding quilt. Karen readily admits that the only part of this quilt she was responsible was finding the beautifully appliqued top on eBay; asking friends at Anne Dawson's quilt shop to help her pick out backing fabric; and then having Del Schuld machine quilt it. (Oh, yes, she did put the last part of the binding on by hand herself.)

Below, Karen and her brother hang the top at Lori's wedding reception held in Woodman Hall  April 2011. Yes, Karen readily admits that it takes her a little longer to get projects done than some of the other more experienced and prolific quilters in the group.

Karen also shared a recent acquisition to her crib quilt collection. She particularly likes to collect children's quilts having to do with farming.  This particular crib quilt contains a collection of Vogart patterns from the 1940s.

Darlene Demetrick shares the next EQ Block of the Month concept and then shares two of her latest projects, one a child's quilt awaiting quilting and the other a finished quilt.

Pat Kuentzel's quilt started out as the back of another quilt. We're glad she decided to make it a separate quilt of it's own!

Edi Blomberg shares three of her latest completed small projects. The 3rd one will go to the EQ Comfort Quilts that are donated to the Lopez community.

Your Reporter can't recall for sure whose quilt this is but thinks it was Roberta
Tessen's. She does remember, however, that it was made in an Amish community in the past year. The math and stitching on those points are stunning!

Laurie Latta shares a Yo-Yo doll quilt she is making for her granddaughter.

Jodie Snapp shares her very first quilt top! She credits EQ for making it happen because she picked up all the fabrics and some incomplete blocks at the Take It or Leave It Table at her first EQ meeting.

Game Time!

Laurie Latta (in red apron) once again volunteered to organize the EQ Xmas Party. We all love Laurie for she always comes up with a fun gave of some kind for us each time. This year it had to do with fabric. What else! She called it Fold, Snip, Rip & Drop.  We were each to bring one yard of Xmas related fabric. See if you can figure out the game as you browse the photos below.

Now you pick up the pile of fabric at your feet fold it, take it home and come back (next Xmas?) with a finished project!

Merry Christmas to all and to all a Good Night!
